This diet is recommended to move Qi and Blood, tonify Yang, eliminate Wind-Cold Damp, and is best for cold weather. However, ingredients can be modified by eliminating the warming seasonings for use anytime of the year.
Ingredients:
3 Pounds chicken thighs* (natural, no hormones, antibiotics, etc.)
2 Sweet potatoes (organic)
2 Cups quinoa, oats, barley, or rice ** (non-GMO grains always)
2 Cups kale, chard, or mustard greens (organic)
3-4 Tablespoons olive oil
Season as recommended for each pet with one or a combination of:
Cumin, turmeric, garlic, thyme, cinnamon, coriander, ginger, salt.
Heat stock pot over high heat, add olive oil, and brown chicken thighs with skin side down. Add smashed garlic and herbs; add quinoa and potatoes. Cover with boiling water and cook until quinoa and potatoes are tender. Add greens and cook for 5-10 more minutes.
*Thighs contain one bone each. At the end of the cooking process, the cartilage tips of each bone will be cooked off. These are a source of glucosamine. Remove each bone before feeding.
**For a ketogenic diet, do not add grains. Oats are warming, barley is cooling.
